Softball Jerseys
3/06/2012

SlowPitchStats will be picking up jerseys this year. Shoot me a email with a jersey size and number (we can have duplicate numbers, although I'm #4).

No word on the schedule yet, but I'll update the team when I know and load the data into slowpitchstats.com.

Cost will be $50 for the league and SPS will pick up the jerseys, I'll collect at the first game. Not sure what we are going to do about the subs if we need them, the regulars will have to decide.

Eden Prairie Bronze League Champions SlowPitchStats!
7/28/2010

Eden Prairie A.P. July 28, 2010.

SPS sparkled defensively to capture the league championship Tuesday night 3-1 over Buffalo Wild Wings. Another capacity crowd was on hand to witness the feat, which thankfully completed before the rain came. SPS veteran pitcher Joey P. handcuffed BW3 all night notching is career, season high 10th victory. JP not only pitched a gem, but took a line-drive up the middle that would have knocked most people to the fence, but JP absorbed the blow and nearly turned a double-play. JP was asked after the game about the shot, "Yeah, I'm pretty sure they would still be pealing Felegy off the center-field fence right now if he got that one. I had a few cocktails before the game with my parents so my cat-like reflexes weren't there. I would have thrown to first right away, but Dan was flirting with the guy on first. I always wondered about him..."

Donny Kahl lead SPS hitters going 2-3 with one RBI. The rest of the team hit like shit, but it didn't matter because the defense was nearly as strong as the pitching. Dan Charbs did have his best hit of the season, a line drive over the middle that hit the grass in the air!

Game notes: Jason Moon had a successful gender reassignment surgery and Janel will be ready to play next year. Manager Dan Charbs is really happy for Jason/Janel and will schedule a team happy hour in the coming weeks and pass out the hardware (t-shirts).

Great Season Fellas.

Assistant to the Assistant Manager, Knutters

Dan Charbonneau Jul 29, 2010 12:05 pm
I've offically put Brian Felegy on the trading block, but realize his trade value went down this last season with his BA.

A League Championship in 2010?
7/14/2010

Eden Prairie A.P. July 14, 2010.

A 11-5 lead into the 7th is safe, right? That might be safe for most teams, but we're talking about the Statition's of SlowPitchStats! They are infamous for inconsistent play, but player/manager, Dan Charbs says, "fuck that shit, we're winning this bitch!"

After a shaky start in the 7th, SPS did pull through and MAY have their first league title since 1999 when there were 3 teams in the league and wooden bats were still being used. One team also allowed girls to play, but it was a league title none-the-less.

It's nice to return to the top, noted Jason Moon. "I had the shits today like you wouldn't believe and when I was running tonight I did feel a little juice squirt out, but I had three pairs of underwear on and nothing ever escaped. I knew I had to be there for the last big game of the year." Moon proceeded to go 0-3 and lose the batting title, but he made up for it in the field.

Overall the SPS team had a good year and if they did in fact win the league championship, a team happy hour will be scheduled and champion t-shirts will be dispersed. Results should be posted later today.

Season notes: Knutson won the triple crown (yeah bitches). Joe notched all 9 wins and Dain lead the team in walks (5). Charbs lead the team in shitty hits (12). Jon Schneider won his first gold glove, credited for the OF. Scotty Bronz lead the team in diving snags and lost his gold glove to a William H Macy 2B, named Patricia. Moon lead the team in running through base coaches (45). Felegy lead the team in most accurate throws to 1B (2). Dan S was voted most improved, raising his average and fielding percentage (must be something to do with getting married). Don K lead the team in rips on Moon (198). Corey lead the team in overthrows to the cut-off (17).

SPS also broke the attendance record this year with 7 people watching 13 games, which averages out to .53 fans per game!

SPS Dominates William H. Macy 7-4
6/30/2010

Eden Prairie A.P. June 30, 2010.

On a gorgeous Tuesday evening at Round Lake, the Statisticians bitch-slapped William H. Macy in front of their fans. It's long been known that William H. brings a cult following wherever they play and it was no different Tuesday. Several fans chanted Seabiscuit! Seabiscuit! Seabiscuit! as William H was nominated for an Oscar for his betrayal of Tick Tock McGlaughlin in the 2003 hit movie.

Joe Perron had another fine outing limiting the WHM to just 7 hits and 3 runs. Super sub "Chris" lead SPS with 3 doubles to the wall and 3 runs scored. Rumors swirled after the game Chris could be signed to a long-term contract. "If we can get the cap space and cut some dead weight, he's on this team", noted Assistant to the Assistant Manager Kelly Knutson.

In other game notes, Jason Moon went 0-4 again using his Wombat. Not to be outdone the 3-6 hitters combined for 1 infield hit in 9 at bats.

Dan Charbonneau Jun 30, 2010 12:34 pm
Rumor has it that Mr. Moon had a strikeout, but I don't see it reflected in the stats?

SPS can't do it with 8.
6/22/2010

Eden Prairie A.P. June 22, 2010.

That sucked! SPS was unable to get the bats going and the 8 man D was a poor coaching decision. Coach Charbs sticks by his one game suspension of Brian Felegy, Kelly Knutson, and Dan Schneider and hopes they come ready to play next week after the Moon hosted BBQ.

Game notes: FAA officials have requested that Moon inform them 1 hour before his first plate appearance so they can clear the skies above the fields in EP.

Pillow Fight in Eden Prairie!
6/16/2010

Eden Prairie A.P. June 16, 2010.

The sold out stadium at Round Lake witnessed a pitching and defensive gem by SPS Tuesday night. Joltin Joe Perron pitched a near shut out with the only run coming in on an error committed by the shortstop. Knutson picked a bad time to have his first error of the season at shortstop. "I knew it couldn't last the entire season and I just got a bad hop", noted the gold glove winning shortstop.

Leadoff hitter Brian Felegy struggled at the plate going 0-4 and had a conversation with reporters after the game. The following is taped transcript.

Reporter: What happened tonight, tough pitches?
Brian: Brian is the best leadoff hitter in the history of this team, so don't worry about it.
Reporter: Do you think you're losing a step? You used to run out those infield hits.
Brian: Brian is the fastest player in the history of SPS, Brian knows speed and they just got lucky tonight.
Reporter: Is Ricky Henderson still your idol?
Brian: Brian loves Ricky and only Ricky can play the game like Brian.

Game notes: Knutson will be gone next week.

Consistently Inconsistent Goes SPS
6/09/2010

Eden Prairie A.P. June 9, 2010

Life is like a box of chocolates for SPS, you never know what you're going to get until you take a swing. Hoping that the bats would stay hot from the previous week, SPS started out 0-9 and the opposing pitcher never had it so easy. "I thought they were stoned," stated the backwards hat wearing pitcher. And it did seem as though SPS smoked a good batch before the game and thought every first pitch was a box of Fruity Pebbles.

Highlights were few and far between for SPS, but they did have an 11 run inning and kept the game going into more innings. The Gazelle continues to lead the team in batting for the season and continued to hit the ball well, going 3-4, although his fielding percentage dropped considerably. Other highlights included player/manager, Dan Charbs getting two infield hits. The last time Charbs recorded two hits was in 2004 when he went 2-7, in an extra inning game. "I'm back", stated Charbs after the game and it's good to see him legging out those infield hits from EITHER side of the plate!

Game notes: Dan Charbs may go on the DL for a "stranger wrist" issues.

Dan Charbonneau Jun 12, 2010 6:31 pm
Wrist feels great and I think I'll continue batting left handed. Currently batting 1.000 from that side of the plate.

Jason Moon Jun 12, 2010 8:01 pm
Charbs is my HERO and I want to host the end of the year party!

Buffalo Wild Wings Win Streak Ends by the Hands of SlowPitchStats
6/02/2010

Eden Prairie A.P. June 2, 2010

The heavily touted BW3 team had a five game win streak to start the season, but that came to an end in front of a sold out crowd at Round Lake fields in Eden Prairie Tuesday night. The now 4-2 SPS squad is in a position to gain momentum and grab a share of the division lead in the weeks to come.

The win came in grand fashion as the SPS team was down 9 in the bottom of the 7th inning and rallied to win the game by a walk-off HR. Jason Moon tied the game with a two-run homerun with two outs and then instead of taking the intentional walk, Kelly Knutson sent one over the leftfield fence to win the game. With the roar of the crowd it can’t be confirmed, but rumors swirled after the game that Knutson called his shot. Knutson could not be reached after the game for comments as he was seen taking ground balls at short and working on throws to firstbase.

The newly married CF Dan Schneider went for the cycle and knocked in 5 RBI’s and fellow teammate (and brother) Jon Schneider went 4-5 with 5 RBI’s as well. Everyone on the team came up with timely hits and although player/coach Dan Charbs went 0-5 he’s not deterred. “My presence in the dugout is my value. I like to slap butts and make other’s feel better about their at bats. If I go 5-5, which I could easily do, it will put pressure on the other guys and I don’t need to do that”, stated Charbs.

Game Notes: Brian Felegy and Dan Charbs struck out, which means they have to bring a 12 pak next week for the games. Knutson was demoted to the SPS minor league affiliate, SlowerPitchStats for the week so he could work on fielding. Co-team owner, Brian Lynch was traded to Vandelay Industries for a case of Beer30, but Lynch was sent back after he failed the physical.

First Loss
4/27/2010

How about a little less grab-ass in the field and maybe you should take your bat's to bed with you and see if you can warm them up. Let's pick up our game next week and we'll write this off as a "just getting started" loss!

P.S. Dain has beer for the swinging strike! And Doug has beer for the following week for not showing up when he said he was going to.
